Sound Codes/Create & Apply
Sound Codes are a bit like Genres, but not exactly. Genres are 'Styles' of music, like Disco or Hip-Hop. Sound Codes are 'Types' of songs. They are user-defined characteristics that can be applied to songs. You may then apply specific content and flow rules to format clocks. For example, in Country music field there are a lot of songs with Texas in the title and/or the lyrics. If I'm a music director at a Country station in another state, I want to prevent Texas songs from scheduling back-to-back. I want no more than two of them to schedule in any hour and when they do, I want them separated by twenty minutes or more. A Sound Code allows me to control those "Texas" songs.
Most of the songs in your library don't need to be Sound Coded. An Oldies station does not need an "Oldies" Sound Code. A Reggae station doesn't need a "Reggae" code. But both of these stations might make use of a Sound Code they named: "Novelty" for the few songs in the library that are unique and odd, in some ways differnet from the overall music library.
