Another Way to Backup Your M1 Database

When you first start M1 each day,you see that Backup button on the first screen.  When you click that, it makes ak zip file of your M1 database and the Logs folder.  You then should copy the zip file to some external location. But, if your station has the M1 database in a network location, when it is not in the c:music 1 folder, that zipper may not work correctly.  Here is another way to backup the database and Logs folder. There is only one file that you absolutely must backup regularly and that is your station's Library database. It is the one with your station name (usually)  and the extension of .m1 (always).   Most of the time, that file is in the c:music 1 folder under your C drive.  M1 itself is always there, but that library file could be on a network drive.  You can see the path to the folder where it is kept when you first start M1.  If your .m1 database is on a network drive, make sure your it is part of the regular network backup.  Otherwise (or in addition to), you should copy that file to some external media at least once a week.  Here is a two minute video about it.
